Scott and Shelby met in Spring of 2021 through mutual friends at Lakeview Bar & Grill. Shelby didn’t really like him at first , and Scott had just gotten out of a terrible relationship. Sometime that fall, they were once again hanging out with friends at Lakeview when they both happened to play “Blank Space” by I Prevail on the jukebox at the same time. Soon, they started flirting and eventually were secretly hanging out without the rest of their friend group.
It took a two year situationship and a tremendous amount of personal growth for both of them, but “will they, won’t they” finally became “they will” (and soon, “I do.”) Now they’re best friends and completely inseparable. Shelby even kinda enjoys sports now (which is a sentence she never thought she’d say) and Scott finally admits to everyone that he’s a bit nerdy.
On October 5, 2024 they were in Chicago with a group of friends about to go on an architecture tour. Scott had been planning this moment for months with the friends behind Shelby’s back. They made an impromptu stop at “the Bean” and their friend Addy started taking pictures. As Shelby started walking away, Scott stopped her and said “One more, Addy.” This was the signal – everyone knew what was coming except Shelby. She said yes, and the rest is history.
